We as a team are proud and happy with our Director’s decision, Gediminas Usas, supports RED NOSES CLOWNDOCTORS INTERNATIONAL.
Since 2010, RED NOSES CLOWNDOCTORS INTERNATIONAL have brought joy, laughter, and smiles to where they are most lacking: young patients in country hospitals, children with special needs in special schools, children undergoing rehabilitation in sanatoriums, seniors in social care homes, and people in refugee centers. With the help of humor, RED NOSES provides emotional and psychosocial assistance to all the most vulnerable groups in society.
The main mission is to give smiles and laughter to those who lack it the most through art.
RED NOSES Doctor clowns are everywhere where people need psychosocial and emotional help to recover faster and rediscover the positive side of life.
Note for all:
We need to thank more to the health care worker for the time and work they have put into helping others during this insane time. Thank for their bravery, sacrifices, and unflagging compassion. Health care workers are heroes, and we wouldn’t be able to get through this time without them. ❤️
Story of one of the RED NOSES clown doctor:
Hi, I’m Joana, I’m a doctor clown. Today I want to share my story, about 7 years of experience as a doctor clown. Over the years, I have been confronted with a human paradox: wearing a mask reveals the human soul, disappears the boundary that separates us from the stereotypes of our own inventions, the communication of sick and non-sick people.
I am a mother and wife, I play in the theater for children, I love poetry, jazz music. I believe that I feel the space perfectly and create rhythm, music from everything in it. For me, it’s a kind of jazz. I had to change a lot of the clown’s clothes, look for new character traits, new colors, experience a lot of setbacks until I discovered what image helps me best express the character’s idea. My character is Bela – a ballerina, a primadonna who seeks to create beauty anywhere in the world, even if it is a military hospital. And dance best expresses emotions. An emotional connection is created during the dance. Through this role, I bring my artistic journey closer. I grew up with Bela’s character from a woman with “galoshes” to a ballerina who likes fancy, shiny clothes, and when performing stretching exercises or awkwardly spinning on her fingertips, it causes children various emotions: curiosity, surprise, laughter. Undressing Joana’s everyday clothes and wearing a ballerina dress, creating various ballet dance situations with her partner, in which she constantly makes mistakes and learns from mistakes, I notice how children forget their worries because that imperative of imperfect forms is not afraid to look funny, in which we live every day. Besides clumsy, but such stretched ballerinas, those around them feel freer and themselves.
I am visited by thoughts that in everyday life I do not want to stop creating my personality, stop coloring life, do not look for new forms of it. Engaged in the art of clowning, I try to seek new satisfaction with my character, myself, and myself. It always helps to look back on true values, then on illness, failure can be seen with different eyes.
A lot of time is spent in the neonatal ward, where we perform not only for parents but also where we connect with newborns, even premature babies. I remember an incident when I visited an abandoned mother’s newborn in the hospital. Entering the ward, where there is such a sensitive, fragile atmosphere, I saw a frightened little newborn. My movements have become minimal, my character has been reduced to the size of a baby in order to connect our different worlds: to make a tiny personality feel more comfortable in this world, which is so foreign and without the warmth of a mother, for at least a short time. When I approached the newborn, I opened the music box, and after playing the soft music, the baby closed his eyes and fell silent. He held out his palm, I smiled, he covered his eyes – in such small steps, I felt how the baby knows the environment. Finally, as I left the ward, I saw the baby moan with his hand.
