Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Chief Officer to join our team on a trailing suction hopper dredger. The ideal candidate for this role should have an extensive background in maritime operations, with a strong understanding of the particular requirements of a dredging vessel.

The Chief Officer’s primary responsibility is to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the vessel. This includes maintaining the safety of the crew, managing navigation operations, supervising loading and unloading operations, and ensuring the proper maintenance of the vessel and its equipment. The Chief Officer must be able to work in a high-pressure environment and to effectively interact with the crew, other vessels, and shore services.

Responsibilities

Supervising the crew and ensuring that all safety regulations are followed;
Maintaining the vessel’s navigational equipment and systems;
Overseeing the operation of the dredging equipment, including hoppers, pumps, and dredging arms;
Assisting with the loading and unloading of cargo;
Ensuring the proper maintenance of the vessel and its equipment;
Preparing daily log entries and reports;
Supervising the vessel’s budget and expenditure.
